1 in 8: The Torso Project’s next FREE torso making workshop takes place Saturday and Sunday, July 19 and 20, 2014 from 10 am to 4 pm both days, at Leverett Crafts and Arts, Leverett MA.

Breast cancer survivors are welcome to come and create a plaster model of their torsos at this hands- on workshop. Survivors may come alone or bring a female friend or family member to make a torso also. All materials are provided and no art experience is necessary.

Facilitators are: Torso Project director Pam Roberts, a writer, artist and breast cancer survivor who developed 1 in 8: The Torso Project out of her experience using art and writing to help herself heal from breast cancer; and Dale Schwarz, M. Ed, ATR, an artist, art therapist and personal and professional coach who is co-founding director of Center for Creative Consciousness and New England Art Therapy Institute. She has been leading creativity workshops for over 30 years.

The workshop is offered by Cancer Connection, Northampton, with funding support from Rays of Hope. Pre-registration is required by calling 413.584.1642.

Cancer Connection offers a safe haven in Northampton MA where people from across the Pioneer Valley who are living with cancer and their loved ones can learn to navigate the cancer journey through a variety of free programs and services, ranging from peer support to integrative therapies and creative programs.
